Meet Our Phenomenal Pediatric Dentist Near Sandy Springs
Dr. Sheh Vahid, DMD, MS
Growing up in a family of dental professionals, Dr. Vahid realized that she wanted to be a dentist ever since she was a child. She used to shadow her parents at their private practice during her high school years, helping around the office however she could. Due to the majority of her father’s patients being children, she witnessed the importance of caring for kids and how fulfilling it is to see them smile after getting their treatment.
Dr. Vahid began her career in dentistry by attending Michigan State University for her Bachelor of Science in Biology and Physiology. She then studied at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine to earn her dental doctorate and completed her General Dentistry Residency (with a focus on pediatric dentistry) at the University of Rochester Eastman Dental Center. She later became a board-certified pediatric dentist through the University of Michigan. There, she performed research in infant oral health and earned her Master of Science in Pediatric Dentistry.
Today, Dr. Vahid regularly pursues continuing education to refine her expertise and skills. She’s also a proud member of numerous organizations, including the American Dental Association, the Southeastern Society of Pediatric Dentistry, the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, and the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.
When she isn’t at the office treating growing smiles, Dr. Vahid lives in Sandy Springs and enjoys various hobbies, including dining out, traveling, playing tennis, skiing, and simply spending time outdoors. She’s also a major Michigan football fan and can be found glued to the TV whenever her favorite team is playing!

FAQs
What level of education is required to be a pediatric dentist?
One of your greatest responsibilities as a parent or guardian to your children is to meet their health needs until they are old enough to start caring for themselves, and their dental condition is no exception. It’s only natural to want to find the most qualified practitioner near Sandy Springs to help monitor and guide their still-developing smile.
Providers must undergo years of specialized training to be licensed to provide pediatric dental services. First, they must graduate with a bachelor’s degree then earn either a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or Doctor of Dental Sciences (DDS) degree from one of 70+ schools accredited by the American Dental Association.
Then, they must receive additional specialized training and a two- or three-year pediatric dental residency before passing licensing exams. At our practice, Dr. Sheh graduated with dental degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine and the University of Rochester Eastman Dental Center. Then, she completed her specialty training at the University of Michigan.
How can I find the best place to get pediatric dental work done?
If you’re taking your child to a dentist for their first visit, you might wonder whether a potential provider is the right fit for your needs. The best way to ensure that you find the right dentist for your family is to first establish your criteria. What qualities are most important to you? Are you looking for someone who’s in-network with your insurance provider or offers flexible financing? Do you need someone near Sandy Springs who can handle certain services, like dental crowns or other restorations?
Answering these types of questions for yourself helps determine the characteristics that are most important to you. Once you have that information, it’s easy to perform an internet search to find a pediatric dentist who meets those qualifications.
How much does a dental checkup and cleaning for children cost near Sandy Springs?
Dental insurance typically covers 100% of preventative care services, but many patients don’t carry a policy and worry that they can’t afford basic treatments to protect their kid’s dental health. Although it can vary based on your circumstances, typically a pediatric dental exam and cleaning in Sandy Springs, GA costs around $200. You might pay more or less based on whether your child’s appointment includes X-rays, fluoride treatments, polishing, or other services.
Remember, it usually costs less to prevent dental problems than to try to repair them once they’ve already occurred. Scheduling a regular checkup and cleaning for your child every six months allows our team to monitor their condition and address any areas of concern, like thinning enamel or bleeding gums, before they progress into more serious issues.
What do you do if you can’t afford a pediatric dentist?
Our team understands that not everyone carries dental insurance, and we don’t want your family’s budget to get in the way of giving your child the top-quality dental care they deserve. If you’re uninsured and are worried that you can’t afford potentially smile-saving services, don’t worry!
Our team also offers flexible financial plans through CareCredit. If your application is approved, this program allows you to break up your invoice into more manageable installments over a designated period. We also have an in-house dental plan without deductibles or waiting periods that offers additional discounts on necessary services.
